5 Weight Loss Mistakes You Don’t Know You Are Making

Weight loss is not complicated. Ignorant lifestyle and the desperation to transform overnight has made it complicated. You have to work out and eat right to lose weight.

No fat loss pill or detox juice will ever help if you don’t have your workout and eating habits in place. Here are some common weight loss mistakes that people make unknowingly.

1) ‘Overeating’ Clean Food

There are three things that you need to take care of about nutrition – quality, quantity and timing. The quantity remains the most important factor out of these three, if you are trying to lose or even gain weight. If you are trying to lose weight, the amount of calories in (food) should be less than the amount of calories out (any physical or metabolic activity). Remember, even overeating clean food can make you put on weight. Keep a food journal or use a calorie counting application and keep tracking your body weight/body measurements to assess your progress.

 

2) Not Sticking To A Single Workout Program

Going to a gym with no concrete workout plan is not going to lead to great results. You need to stick to any decent plan for a reasonable period and you will see tremendous results. A good plan consists of two to four strength training days, mainly comprising compound movements such as squat, deadlift, bench press, shoulder press, chin ups, lunges, etc and high intensity training (HIT) cardio on two to three days.

 

3) Confusing Between Cheat Meals And Cheat Days

Cheat meals are not necessary and are mainly for people on really low-carb diet, as it helps them replenish their glycogen reserves. It also helps people feel satisfied after eating a little more of their favorite food once every 5-7 days. But, it becomes a problem when people cheat through the weekend and think it’s all right.

 

4) Overdoing Steady State Cardio

Steady state cardio eats muscle and raises cortisol levels. Rather, a combination of weight training and HIIT is far more efficient and effective. Weight training leads to muscle growth which increase your body’s caloric requirement and hence, makes it easier to lose weight without eating too less. Not just that, it also makes you look toned when that fat melts off. Weight training and HIT both boost metabolism and hormonal function which leads you to burn more calories throughout the day.

 

5) Consuming Too Much Of Packaged Food Which Says “Healthy”, “Low Fat”, Or “Sugar Free”

Marketing companies are taking full advantage of ignorance that prevails in the fitness industry by marking their products as “low fat”, “multi grain”, “sugar free” or “natural” and making people believe that they are eating healthy. To cite a few examples, corn flakes, Bournvita, and Real juice have a lot of sugar and in no way a good food choice to start a day. Multi grain bread is just bread that is made from multiple grains consisting mainly of refined grain flour which is not healthy at all.
